Location: Remote (flexible throughout US-based time zones)

Contract Length: 12 Months

Pay Rate: $35/hr including individual healthcare coverage. $38/hr opting out.

Position Summary:

Orion Group are partnered with a global medical devices company for a R&D PMO position where your Project Management expertise will help to drive continuous improvement across global development sites.

In this role, the PMO Project Manager works directly with the PMO Director on taking strategic inputs and converting to specific outputs which will most likely take the form of standard work but could be anything as needed.

The PMO Project Manager support will include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Updating existing standard work based on changes and/or improvements to any of our processes
  • Finalizing "in process" draft standard work that needs to be rolled out
  • Creating new standard work based on identified opportunities
  • Closing gaps on the Golden Gate Process Map
  • Helping with the global OTD PSP

Minimal travel may be expected depending on your location. This position will report to the PMO Director based in Tampa, Florida USA.

Preferred Project Management experience:

  • Coordinating successful completion of development projects on time, with high quality and on budget.
  • Project manager for cross-functional teams and complex activities that may span functions, organizations, geographic regions and cultures, and by utilizing the expertise of all required disciplines.
  • Gains a broad understanding of all functions involved, addresses issues and needs of all functional team members and leverages the team to close gaps.
  • Develops project plans, identifies dependencies, creates and assesses time and budget estimates, analyzes critical path, analyzes risks and constraints, and identifies resource requirements.
  • Has an extensive understanding of the Master Schedule and each team member's deliverables to the extent that impacts are understood immediately and counter-measured as needed, and has an extensive understanding of the product development process and design controls.
  • Identifies and manages project issues, risks and schedule conflicts and applies problem solving methodologies with the team as needed.
  • Maintains full control of project timelines, resources, and budgets.
  • Uses technical experience to support and interact with scientists, engineers and marketing to support product definition, project scope, risk management and design control activities.
  • Develops effective relationships, builds credibility, establishes rapport and maintains communication with stakeholders at multiple levels, including those external to the organization. Fosters teamwork, respect, and a healthy rapport with all co-workers.
  • Communicates all types of information to the project team, management and all project stakeholders, and to communicate difficult information effectively to leadership.
  • Ensures team members are aligned and appropriately supported and trained in standard project management, project risk, risk impact and risk mitigation processes.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Preferred experience in in a stage-gate product development program, and experience managing a complex work environment (cross-functional teams, multiple sites, multiple products, etc.)
  • Ability to take direction and work independently with some oversight from the Director
  • Exemplary communication skills across a variety of departments and stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Technical background, with experience in life sciences company preferred.
