Job description

Our client has a current opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join their team on a permanent basis, based in Invergordon.

As part of the Maintenance team, the Maintenance Fitter will ensure that quality workmanship within the demanding business constraints of minimising downtime and maximising production is obtained from all equipment and machinery, while working as part of a team.

Main Duties

  • Working at an expert level providing and developing preventative maintenance regimes covering hydraulic and mechanical equipment around the site

  • Repairing and rebuilding hydraulic equipment

  • Repairing and rebuilding pneumatic equipment

  • Engaging in welding/cutting/grinding as required

  • Repairing and building pumps

  • Repairing and building gear boxes

  • Chipper knife changes where necessary

  • Positively contributing to any team meetings arranged concerning issues relating to production and maintenance

  • Comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures including the wearing of all personal protective equipment issued

  • Follow Permit to Work, Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work

  • Any other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time by your Manager

Skills & Attributes

  • Qualified time served Maintenance Fitter or candidates with relevant Mechanical experience in an industrial environment

  • Analytical capacity to identify and address technical issues/opportunities which can impact upon production and quality

  • Experience in troubleshooting installation, fault finding, and repairs

  • Computer literate

  • Knowledge of Hydraulics, Mechanic Systems, Pneumatics, Welding/Grinding & Cutting

  • Ability to work within a Team

  • Personal Safety Awareness

  • Ability to see and highlight problems

  • Effective decision making

  • Results focused

  • Quality Awareness

  • Excellent Communication Skills

  • Proactive and Enthusiastic approach

  • Ability to work outdoors
