Job description

Orion Group Life Sciences are looking for a Datacentre Operator (GMP) for our Multinational Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology client based in Breda. Initial 6-month contract. This is a fully onsite role.

Role Summary

The Datacentre Operator reports directly to the Datacentre Operations Manager.

He/she will be part of the team in Breda, responsible for the IT infrastructure in the European region.

The Datacentre operator works closely with other technical IT-groups to keep critical business services operational.

Main Responsibilities of the role

  • Monitoring the various ticketing queues and managing the individual requests.
  • Installing new systems (incl. labelling, documentation, testing, configuring and documenting).
  • Performing patch-activities.
  • Troubleshooting of cabling issues.
  • Handling and coordinating remote hands requests.
  • Monitoring of the environmental monitoring systems and actioning any follow-ups.
  • Coordinating work permits.
  • Coordinating and supervising activities of suppliers.
  • Coordinating and performing minor project activities.
  • Participating in major project activities.
  • Following standard ITSM processes (change management, incident management).
  • Performing various visual inspection rounds and following up on findings.
  • Keeping the data centres, and hub-rooms neat and tidy.

Required Qualifications and skills.

  • MBO - Technical education.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a data center, hosting or telecommunications organization.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and cabling standards.
  • Knowledge of IT equipment (servers / switches / firewalls / etc).
  • Knowledge of Networking and TCP / IP.
  • Knowledge of Server Operating Systems (Windows / Linux) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., BICSI, ASHRAE) is a plus.
  • Being a team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Service-oriented attitude.
  • No 9 to 5 mentality.
  • Work on Saturday or Sunday when requested (average of once every two months).
  • Continues Improvement focus.
  • Fluency in Dutch and English, spoken and written.
  • Knowledge of Windows and MS Office Software.
  • Flexible, stress resistant.
  • Ability to perform tasks and planning individually.
  • Ability to work in a strongly governed environment.
  • Proficient documentation-skills.
  • Able to perform physical activities.
