Biochemist

$35 per hour with medical benefits included

1 year initial contract with the possibility for extensions

Location: Onsite in North Chicago

Standard first shift Monday - Friday

Orion Group is seeking experienced Biochemists to work within a market leading pharmaceutical company located in North Chicago, IL.

Biochemist Daily Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute assigned laboratory tasks utilizing standard procedures and technical understanding of various techniques to complete assigned tasks.
  • Develop protocols for more complex tests or experiments performed with less defined assays and parameters.
  • Apply basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and instrument related systems.
  • Presents conclusions of defined experiments.
  • Ensures safety requirements are met when performing tasks.
  • Ensures timely compliant delivery of high quality precise data
  • Conduct experiments and analyze data related to protein purification, and high-performance liquid chromatography.
  • Ensure compliance with CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice) and GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) standards.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to achieve project goals.

Qualifications for the Biochemist:

  • BS/BA in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Medical Technology or related field with 2-5 yrs biochemistry lab experience or Masters Degree.
  • Experience in Protein Chromatography (SEC, Ion exchange, RPLC. Experience with a chromatography data system is a plus, but not required, we will train.
  • Understanding of how to use analytical instruments including HPLC and electrophoresis for separations.
  • Solid documentation skills, familiarity with electronic lab notebook a plus.
  • Able to present findings to larger groups.
