We have a fantastic new opportunity for an Asset HSSE Trainer to play a major role in a long-term (approx. 2 yrs.) Contract opportunity assisting our client's Production Training Team during a very crucial and exciting time with Canada's Largest LNG projects! The successful Asset HSSE Trainer, who will work together with and report to the Production Training Excellence Lead, will, implement HSSE standards by initiating, developing, and execution of training and programs to build capability and improve organizational effectiveness and efficiency in line with our client and industry Safety aspiration for the asset team and contractors. The Asset HSSE Trainer will provide HSSE training in alignment with overall training strategy for Asset and contractor as subject matter expertise. This significant role takes place while our client leads into commissioning, start-up and production of their LNG facility. A great opportunity for you to enhance your career as well!

Key responsibilities of the role that will utilize your skills and experience include:

  • Coach technical trainers on safety theory & implications.
  • Act as an advocate to establish a continuous Safety culture as well as build strong relationships with the business to become a trusted partner in achieving business.
  • Work with the training Lead to facilitate the implementation of HSSE policy, Procedure and safe practice in Competency Maps and Job Competency Profiles.
  • Plan and oversee the work of third-party learning partners; ensuring deliverables support our client's National Learning Strategy and monitor quality and compliance, ensuring results meet specified standards and requirements.
  • Partner with the Learning Advisor, to review & implement Safety element of Job Competency Profiles in the Competency Management System.
  • Act as site focal for visible safety leadership for production & maintenance team.
  • Work collaboratively to develop tailored learning strategies in support of desired performance or business objectives.
  • Drive, Implement and evaluate HSSE expected outcome, with the use of HSSE training and behaviours through in-house and third-party training programs.
  • Develop e-learning and classroom-based courseware.
  • Develop and maintain strong business focused relationships with stakeholders, business leaders, lead trainers, trainers, assessors, external vendors, etc.

To be successful, you will have:

  • A minimum of 8 years of oil and gas experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of work in Plant/industrial HSE.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of Work Safe British Columbia (BC).
  • Provide sample of training and or classroom-based courseware.
  • University completion at the undergraduate level with a specialty focus in adult education or an undergraduate level with a certification in adult education or workplace learning.

To be successful in applying for the position you'll be required to:

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
  • Hold a Valid Driver's license.
  • Know that this is not a fly-in, fly-out rotation role a
  • Required to live in / relocate to the Kitimat/Terrace Stikine Region of BC, Canada to work Monday to Friday 40 hrs in Kitimat, BC.

  • Tactical training certificates/proof may be required.
  • May be required to complete a variety of pre-screening, IE. a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, a background check and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
