Location: Island-based, Summer Isles (supporting mainland operations)
Employment type: Permanent, Full-time
Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm (occasional weekend work may be required to support business needs)

About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement & Logistics Lead to join a unique island-based operation in the Summer Isles. This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for leading procurement and logistics operations across an island-based organisation supporting mainland activities.
 
Job Purpose:    
 
The Procurement & Logistics Lead will be responsible for the successful delivery of all aspects of the procurement life cycle, ensuring best value, compliance and alignment with finance policies and procedures. This role will lead the Procurement team, oversee one of site operations and play a key part in supplier management, contract negotiation and process improvement.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, including supplier sourcing, vetting, negotiation, contract award, and ongoing contract management.
  • Develop and maintain the Approved Supplier List, ensuring all suppliers meet compliance, financial, and quality standards.
  • Oversee procurement of goods and services, ensuring timely delivery and accurate invoicing.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to ensure adherence to budgets, policies, and reporting requirements.
  • Drive cost savings, efficiencies, and added value through procurement strategy and negotiations.
  • Monitor market trends, risks, and opportunities to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Develop strong supplier partnerships and manage performance through KPIs and regular reviews.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate supplier risks, ensuring continuity of supply.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and standards, including health & safety, ESG, and data protection.
  • Oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring efficiency and safe practices.
  • Manage fuel supply and supplier relationships, ensuring resilience and cost control.
  • Support the HSEQ Lead with waste management through vetted suppliers, ensuring environmentally responsible disposal.
  • Work closely with the HSEQ Lead to ensure all site operations follow safe working procedures.
  • Line manage and develop the Procurement & Logistics team.
  • Provide cover and operational support when required.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Identify and implement process improvements across procurement and supply chain operations.
 
Key Relationships:
  • Reporting directly to Finance Manager.
  • Working closely with HSEQ Lead, Finance and wider operational teams.
  • Managing external supplier and contractor relationships.
 
Person Specification:
 
Skills & Experience (essential)
  • Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, ideally at a supervisory or lead level.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Knowledge of procurement compliance, legislation, and supplier risk management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Valid UK driving licence (or European equivalent).
  • FLT trained (Telescopic Handler).
 
Skills & Qualifications (desirable)
  • CIPS qualification (or working towards).
  • Experience with ERP/procurement systems.
  • Background in site operations management.
  • Knowledge of ESG and sustainability in procurement.
  • Food Hygiene Level 1 qualification.
