Oil and Gas Jobs in Houston

As the largest city in Texas, Houston is a world leader in the oil and gas industry. The industry makes up for over a quarter of the city’s GDP. Subsequently, there are a large number of jobs available from mid-level to senior posts. The expansion of shale gas projects (particularly in the Permian Basin) in the USA is prevalent and anybody with experience and/or knowledge of the industry is highly desirable. Nevertheless, those who haven’t previously worked in the US are still sought after – it is the experience of oil and gas industry as a whole that makes a candidate a valuable asset. There are a number of jobs on offer in Houston and offshore vacancies are also available in the Gulf of Mexico. Due to the high demand for candidates, the salary benefits of working in Houston are a noticeable attraction. Relevant qualifications are critical – a bachelor’s degree in the appropriate field is a near-universal requirement, as is knowledge of the specific inner-workings of the role advertised. There are plenty of different roles on offer, such as working as a drilling supervisor, project planning lead, project reporting analyst and a piping engineer, amongst many others so engineers across different disciplines are well-catered for.
