Business Manager

Location – Aberdeen.

I’ve worked in Recruitment for fourteen years and I’ve been with Orion for just over four years now. Having worked both in-house for a global Oil & Gas service company and agencies I’ve got the perspective from both the Recruiter and the Client which proves to be invaluable. My role is dual focused, I look after all HR related positions which is an area I’ve specialised in for a long time, and I’m also responsible for bringing in new business to the Aberdeen office.


Current speciality

I look after all types of HR related roles from Director to Administrator level as well as Recruitment, Learning & Development, Training & Competence, Organisational Development, Change Management and Personnel Logistics. This is across various sectors however in Aberdeen it is predominantly Oil & Gas. With regards to the new business part I am the first point of contact for all client enquiries as well as all forms of business development whether it be attending exhibitions, client meetings, submitting tenders, proposals and agreeing terms of business.

The best thing about working at Orion

I genuinely love everything about working at Orion but if I had to list the best things it would be the culture and the trust placed in you to do your job. The culture is very much created by the people that you work with/for who are second to none, a skilled, knowledgeable and passionate team that all share the same ethos and desire to provide positive results to both our candidates and clients.


In my spare time...I enjoy spending time with my wife and two daughters and I’m also a huge football fan. Another great thing about Orion is our weekly game of football every Wednesday which is not only hugely enjoyable but a great way to keep in touch with clients and contractors whilst playing the beautiful game. You’ll occasionally find me on the golf course too where I’ll be desperately searching for that short game I lost some time in the late 1990’s. I am also a JFK aficionado.
