We are seeking an experienced Area Leader – Water Treatment Unit (WTU) to support a major upstream oil and gas development in Uganda. This role plays a critical part in coordinating and supervising all activities related to the Water Treatment Unit, ensuring seamless integration between engineering, procurement, construction, and pre-commissioning teams.

We are seeking an experienced Area Leader – Water Treatment Unit (WTU) to support a major upstream oil and gas development in Uganda. This role plays a critical part in coordinating and supervising all activities related to the Water Treatment Unit, ensuring seamless integration between engineering, procurement, construction, and pre-commissioning teams.
Key Responsibilities Planning & Coordination
- Develop and maintain short-term and look-ahead plans for all WTU activities.
- Coordinate daily and weekly work fronts with supervisors, discipline leads, and subcontractors.
- Ensure optimal resource allocation and sequencing aligned with the overall project schedule.
- Track daily progress related to installation of filtration systems, pumps, tanks, piping, and instrumentation.
- Monitor availability and status of critical equipment, long-lead items, and construction materials.
- Ensure timely tracking and follow-up of engineering deliverables and technical documentation.
- Provide support to site teams on technical queries and construction clarifications.
- Liaise closely with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and commissioning teams to ensure smooth interfaces and timely handover stages.
- Monitor and drive pre-commissioning activities, punch list closure, and readiness for commissioning.
- Verify compliance and readiness of auxiliary systems including chemical treatment, quality control, drainage, and instrumentation.
- Act as a key link between the contractor and project teams.
- Clarify technical requirements and communicate construction/engineering decisions effectively.
- Prepare daily progress reports and maintain accurate records of meetings and follow-up actions.
- Engineering degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in oil & gas projects, with strong exposure to multi-discipline construction and pre-commissioning.
- Solid understanding of international oil and gas codes, standards, and best practices.
- Previous experience with major operators or EPC contractors is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Fluent in English.
- Valid medical certificate as per industry standards.
