We currently have an opportunity for Turnaround Planning & Scheduling Lead. This position is based in Oman
Position Title: Turnaround Planning & Scheduling Lead
Contract Period: 1 year (extendable for another year)
Contract Type: Family Status
Required Qualifications:
Fifteen years’ experience in Turnaround planning including five years of experience as TA Planning /Scheduling Lead (in client side) in refinery or petrochemical facility.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant Engineering or Maintenance field from recognized university.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Primavera P6 & other CMMS tools.
Demonstrated relative experience in developing detailed schedules and resource loading plans for complex processing facility or operating assets in Turnaround events
Roles & Responsibilities:
Lead the development and validation of the overall turnaround work scope in collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Reliability and Capital Projects.
Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, operations, inspection, and other disciplines to ensure integrated and executable plans.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for turnaround schedule performance, including schedule adherence, productivity, and milestone achievement.
Maintain ownership of the approved turnaround worklist, ensuring scope control and governance throughout planning and execution phases.
Review and develop the Turnaround Worklist and prepare detailed work packages, including Scope of work , Job schedules, Spare parts & blind lists, P&IDs and reference drawings, Resources & manpower requirement
Preparation, integration and maintenance of the Turnaround Master Schedule in Primavera P6, incorporating activities from all departments – Static, Rotating, Electrical, Instrumentation, Shutdown, and Start-up.
Integrate multiple subcontractor schedules into a master plan and conduct “what-if” scenario planning, critical path analysis, and optimization studies.
Review and validate contractor schedules, resource estimates(manpower & equipment), and sequencing for effective schedule control.
Facilitate structured scope review and alignment meetings to ensure completeness, risk identification, and prioritization.
Coordinates with operating facilities and contractors as necessary to ensure turnaround schedule alignment, analyze schedule data, ensure turnaround shutdown, start-up procedures are effectively sequenced and resource loaded, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
Prepare and issue comprehensive progress reports including S-curves, histograms, look-ahead schedules, and earned value analysis (EVA).
Review contractor resource estimates (manpower & equipments) to ensure adherence to resource loading requirements terms and conditions
Lead schedule assurance reviews, challenge sessions, and peer reviews to validate logic, critical path, float consumption, and resource constraints.
Oversee development of level 1–4 schedules and ensure proper integration between master schedules and detailed execution plans.
Manage critical path analysis and proactively identify mitigation strategies for potential delays.
Perform delay analysis & prepare recovery schedules.
Lead daily execution schedule reviews during turnaround events and provide clear visibility of progress, risks, and recovery plans.
Provide inputs for development of detail Turnaround scope.
Create Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and perform technical evaluations.
Prepare estimates and budgets for assigned work packages as part of the overall Turnaround cost planning.
Collaborate closely with the Turnaround Planners to define job scopes, durations, logics and critical path drivers.
Collaborate with various departments (Maintenance, Operations, Procurement, HSE, Engineering) and subcontractors throughout all turnaround phases – Pre-TA, Execution, and Post-TA.
Support critical path identification and validate timelines to ensure feasibility and alignment with shutdown windows.
Coordinate contractor mobilization, material readiness, logistics planning, and site preparation activities.
Liaise with Procurement to develop and support contractor bid packages, ensuring scope clarity and accurate resource requirements.
Review method statements prepared by execution contractor & provide necessary inputs.
Lead, Co-ordinate & Support the execution contractor and other stakeholders during Turnaround execution phase.
Capture execution feedback and lessons learned to refine future job plans and turnaround scopes.
Develop standardized processes, work packages, and best practices to improve planning quality and efficiency.
Serve as the central coordination point among Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Capital Projects, Contractors, and Procurement.
