THE OPPORTUNITY – TURNAROUND, MODIFICATIONS & RESTART LEAD
The Turnaround, Mods & Restart Lead is responsible for the safe, efficient, and integrated delivery of all major outages, modifications, and plant restart activities across the asset. The role provides end-to-end ownership of turnaround (TAR) events and unplanned major outages, ensuring work scopes are prioritised, planned, and executed in alignment with asset objectives and operating integrity requirements, underpinned by a proven endorsed strategy.
The position is accountable for coordinating cross-functional activities across operations, maintenance, engineering, and projects to ensure readiness for execution, effective delivery, and safe return to service. The role ensures that modifications and shutdown scopes are integrated, risk assessed, and delivered efficiently, minimising downtime and maximising value.
During execution, the role provides operational leadership, ensuring safe plant handover, effective coordination of onshore and offshore activities, and controlled restart of the asset. Through strong leadership, planning, and stakeholder alignment, the role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of outages and modifications across the asset lifecycle.

Contract Type: PAYE
Day Rate: TBC - For your application to be progressed, please ensure you provide a PAYE day rate banding expectation. Please note that there is no travel and accommodation allowance provided.

Spirit Energy currently have a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement for all office-based workers. 4 days must be worked in the office with compulsory days being Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The fourth day worked in-office (either Monday or Friday) is of the worker’s choosing but should be in keeping with what is most efficient and effective for their team. The office is open 5 days a week for full time, in-office working if this is the contractor’s preference.
AND NOW FOR THE TECHNICAL BIT…
In role, you will be required to:
Turnaround & Outage Delivery
Lead end-to-end delivery of planned turnarounds and unplanned major outages. Ensure safe, efficient, and on-schedule execution. Minimise production downtime.
Modifications Integration
Coordinate and integrate modification scopes into shutdown and outage plans. Ensure alignment across operations, maintenance, and projects. Deliver value-driven scope execution.
Shutdown Planning & Readiness
Ensure robust planning, scope definition, and readiness for execution. Drive integration across disciplines. Maintain control of scope, schedule, and changes.
Execution Leadership
Provide leadership during execution phases. Coordinates onshore and offshore activities. Ensures safe plant handover and control of work.
Restart & Return to Service
Lead safe and controlled restart of plant following outages. Ensure systems are verified, compliant, and ready for operation. Minimise restart risk and instability.
HSE & Operating Integrity
Ensure full compliance with HSE, CoW, and OI requirements. Promote incident-free delivery. Maintain focus on process safety and risk management.
Act as a Lead investigator using Kelvin TopSet investigation techniques to support business requirements.
Commercial & Cost Management
Manage turnaround and outage budgets and forecasts. Ensure cost-effective delivery of scopes. Monitor contractor performance and value delivery.
Stakeholder & Interface Management
Act as focal point for outages and major modifications. Align cross-functional stakeholders and contractors. Provide clear communication and decision support.
Risk Management & Assurance
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across planning and execution. Ensure contingency planning and resilience. Support audits and assurance activities.
Continuous Improvement
Drive improvements in turnaround and outage delivery processes. Capture lessons learned. Promote best practice and efficiency across the asset.

ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, we are looking for:
- Degree or equivalent experience in engineering or related discipline (preferred)
- Significant experience in oil & gas / energy sector, including shutdown delivery
- Proven leadership experience in turnaround, operations, or maintenance roles
- BOSIET and relevant offshore certification
