Position: Trenching Equipment Supervisor

Department Overview
The Trenching Equipment Supervisor is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of trenching equipment—specifically the Cable Burial Tool (CBT)—on offshore vessels. This position ensures that all cable burial activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project and safety requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
• Lead and supervise CBT operators, riggers, and assisting engineers during
trenching and cable burial operations
• Ensure all tasks follow established procedures, technical plans, and safety
protocols
• Continuously monitor and assess team and equipment performance Safety and Compliance
• Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Toolbox Talks, and safety briefings regularly
• Ensure adherence to all Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE)
standards and regulations
• Promote a strong safety culture on board
Coordination and Communication
• Collaborate closely with the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM), Field
Engineers, Chief Engineer, and Trenching Experts
• Provide regular operational updates on CBT and related systems
• Maintain a cooperative, professional working atmosphere among all personnel
Maintenance and Optimization
• Support maintenance and improvement programs for CBT equipment both
onshore and offshore
• Manage spare parts, consumables, and equipment inventories
• Identify opportunities to optimize cable burial processes and enhance performance
Training and Development
• Assist in training and mentoring CBT operators and crew members
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of technical training programs
Project Preparation
• Oversee mobilization and demobilization of project-specific trenching equipment
• Review and understand the cable burial documentation and project scope before execution
Qualifications and Experience
Technical Background
• Educational background in hydraulics, mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering
• Practical and theoretical expertise in trenching operations and offshore systems
• Proven ability to manage high-pressure situations with flexibility and composure
Preferred Competencies
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Hands-on technical knowledge and problem-solving capabilities
• Experience leading teams in offshore trenching or cable installation environments
Additional Information
• Rotation Schedule: 5/5 (potentially 4/4, to be confirmed)
• Work Schedule: 12-hour shifts
• Business Travel: Not required
• Required Visa: US OCS B1 WIND
