Total Rewards Business Partner (Contract – 1 Year)
Location: North Chicago / Lake County, IL (Hybrid)
Pay Rate: $35/hour
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM CT (M–F)
Onsite Requirement: Tues–Thurs (AbbVie hybrid policy effective Jan 2026)
Contract Length: 12 months (extension based on performance & business need)

This role sits within the Total Rewards Excellence team and plays a key part in ensuring competitive, equitable, and data-driven compensation practices across the organization.

Top Skills & Qualifications
- Advanced Excel expertise (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, troubleshooting formulas); Power BI experience is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, Business, Finance, or related field
- 2–3 years’ experience in Human Resources, Total Rewards, Compensation, Benefits, or Finance
- Proven ability to lead projects from concept to execution
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex datasets, spot trends, and make actionable recommendations
- Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
As a Total Rewards Business Partner, you will support compensation strategy, job evaluation, and competitive offer recommendations across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
Advisory & Support
- Serve as a trusted advisor for routine Total Rewards inquiries from Business HR (BHR) and Talent Acquisition (TA).
- Ensure consistent application of competitive pay practices and reward programs.
- Conduct job evaluations and benchmarking studies to determine appropriate grades, job codes, and market alignment.
- Lead global job evaluation projects spanning multiple regions.
- Maintain key documentation in HRIS, benchmarking platforms, and case management tools.
- Build market-competitive, internally equitable compensation recommendations for new hires and internal moves.
- Recommend base salary, incentives, sign-on bonuses, and other cash-based rewards aligned with company practices.
- Perform audits to ensure data accuracy across HRIS systems.
- Support annual compensation cycles (merit, promotions, bonuses) for assigned client groups.
- Contribute to salary structure development, survey submissions, and compensation reporting.
- Continuously update TRBP tools, dashboards, and reporting frameworks.
- Participate in ad hoc compensation projects and initiatives as requested by the Functional TRBP Team Lead.
- Advanced Excel competency; strong data manipulation and analysis skills
- Understanding of compensation principles and reward program administration
- Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities
- Ability to use previous compensation/HR experience to solve new and complex problems
- Acts with inclusivity and equity—ensuring all voices are heard
- Thrives in ambiguity and adapts quickly to shifting priorities
- Works collaboratively across global teams and partners
