Tax Manager– Upstream Oil & Gas
Location: London (Onshore)
Reports to: Group Treasurer
Position Type: Full-time, Individual Contributor (No direct reports)
Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to take end-to-end ownership of UK tax affairs for an active oil and gas portfolio. Operating within a dynamic fiscal environment, you will deliver robust compliance, accurate statutory reporting, and strategic tax advice to support commercial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Manage all UK upstream taxation, including Ring Fence Corporation Tax (RFCT), Supplementary Charge, Energy Profits Levy (EPL), and decommissioning relief.
- Compliance & Reporting: Prepare corporate tax computations and oversee disclosures under IFRS/GAAP for financial statements.
- Commercial Advisory: Provide expert technical input to finance, commercial, and M&A teams on asset transactions, restructurings, and field life extensions.
- HMRC Interface: Act as the primary point of contact for all tax audits, enquiries, and correspondence.
Requirements Essential:
Significant experience in UK upstream oil and gas taxation, either within an E&P company or a specialist advisory firm.
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of corporate ring-fence legislation, EPL, and decommissioning tax relief. Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex technical tax matters into clear insights for senior business leaders.
Desirable:
ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent professional qualification.
