Structural Project Manager

Location: Rosemont, Illinois, with flexibility to work from Chicago part of the week
Working pattern: Four days office-based, one day remote

We have been retained by a highly regarded civil engineering consultancy in Chicagoland to recruit a Structural Project Manager for its growing Structural Group.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Structural Engineer to take a senior role within a close-knit team, leading technically interesting infrastructure projects while mentoring junior engineers and helping shape the department’s continued growth.

The group works across a varied portfolio of public-infrastructure projects, including bridge design and rehabilitation, pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, flood walls, culverts, dams, spillways and bridge inspections. With a strong pipeline of IDOT work, including major bridge and pedestrian-structure projects, this role offers a genuine mix of technical design, project management and client interaction.

The role

• Lead structural projects from concept through construction.
• Manage scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables and client communication.
• Provide technical oversight, QA/QC and support to a growing team of junior engineers.
• Deliver bridge design and rehabilitation, inspections and wider transportation-structure projects.
• Prepare and review plans, specifications, calculations, cost estimates and inspection reports.
• Work closely with municipalities, agencies, contractors and internal multidisciplinary teams.
• Support proposals, fee development and business-development activity.

What we are looking for

• Illinois PE licence is essential.
• SE licence preferred, or commitment to obtain it with exam support available.
• Eight-plus years of structural-engineering experience, including project-management responsibility.
• Strong bridge design, rehabilitation and/or inspection experience.
• Familiarity with IDOT Phase I and II processes, AASHTO LRFD and relevant IDOT bridge-design manuals.
• Experience using OpenBridge, MicroStation, OpenRoads or comparable structural-design tools.
• Strong communication skills and an interest in mentoring engineers at earlier stages of their careers.
