Start-Up Support Supervisor – Well Pads Operations
Location: Buliisa site, Uganda
Start: Q1 2026
Duration: 18 months+
Status: Rotational

We are seeking an experienced Start-Up Support Supervisor to support well pad operations on a large-scale greenfield onshore oil development in Uganda. This is a rotational, site-based role reporting to the Start-Up Leader and Production Superintendent, with a strong focus on safety, operational readiness, and start-up execution in a highly complex and sensitive environment.

The project involves factory-style drilling with multiple rigs operating simultaneously, extensive SIMOPS between construction, drilling, and operations, and production from heavy and waxy crude via numerous well pads, some located within environmentally protected areas. The role requires strong operational discipline, rigorous application of procedures, and the ability to operate effectively under pressure.

During the project phase, the role will focus on becoming fully familiar with site systems and processes, reviewing operating manuals and test procedures, contributing to start-up sequences and marked-up P&IDs, and developing detailed start-up and operating procedures using digital tools. Responsibilities also include preparing routine task lists, operator round checklists, shift reporting templates, and pre-start-up checklists, as well as supporting operator training and on-the-job learning.

During operations, the Start-Up Support Supervisor will act as delegated operating authority once systems are handed over, drive safe execution of start-up activities on the well pads, and lead routine and non-routine field operations. The role includes managing SIMOPS activities, preparing and controlling permit-to-work dossiers, supervising high-risk operations such as pigging and confined space entry, supporting ESP start-up and ramp-up, and ensuring accurate reporting, shift handover, and anomaly management.
Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years’ oil and gas operational experience, including at least 3 years in a similar supervisory role, strong knowledge of well pad operations and ESP systems, experience with DCS-based control systems, and a proven ability to lead teams safely in challenging environments.
