Offshore Start-Up Manager
21/21 Rotation (Offshore Romania)
Duration: 6 months 

We are seeking an experienced Offshore Start-Up Manager to join a major offshore greenfield energy project in Romania. This is a high-profile leadership role supporting offshore commissioning, start-up, and early production activities on a large-scale gas development.
The role is central to ensuring safe, efficient, and fully compliant handover from project delivery into operations, including system readiness, hot commissioning, first hydrocarbons, and performance testing.
You will act as the offshore focal point for start-up activities, leading multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating vendors, engineers, and operations personnel to achieve safe and stable production.
Key responsibilities:
  • Lead offshore commissioning, start-up, and system handover activities across process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems
  • Ensure readiness verification, punch list closure, and completion of all pre-start-up requirements
  • Oversee hot commissioning and live plant introduction of hydrocarbons
  • Manage control system validation, safety systems, and emergency shutdown testing
  • Coordinate well clean-up and early production operations with subsurface and completions teams
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and maintain safe, stable operations during start-up
  • Deliver performance testing for key equipment and production systems
  • Provide daily reporting on progress, risks, and mitigation actions
  • Champion HSSE leadership and regulatory compliance at all times
Requirements:
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical discipline
  • Minimum 15 years offshore oil and gas experience
  • Strong background in commissioning, start-up, and performance testing of offshore facilities
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary offshore teams on major greenfield projects
  • Proven track record in first oil/gas or first production environments
  • Strong understanding of international offshore standards and safety frameworks
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills
