Start-up Lead

Title: Start-up Lead
Duration: 2 Yrs
Work location: Onshore Doha. 
Work Schedule: 8-10 hours per day from Sunday to Thursday
12 Weeks ON / 2 Weeks OFF (for Single Status) 30 days annually (for Couple Status)
 
 
Job Purpose
Lead Operations deliverables within the assigned project from EPC, Brownfield, Greenfield, Commissioning, Start-up, and Handover of the running facility to Asset operations.
 
 
 
Job Context & Major Challenge
Lead activities associated with Operations deliverables during construction, dynamic commissioning, early operations and Start-up till the unit stabilises and following, assist with the handover process.
Coordinate the integrated organization through Start-up phase until stable operation.
Front line decision making during emergencies and troubleshooting abnormalities.
Required to work extended hours in support of operations.
Adhering towards the Shutdown Management System (SDMS) Gate deliverables for all Green and Brownfield work.
 
 
Develop and execute the Start-up/Shutdown plan and align with other Asset stakeholders if required.
Analyse the tasks to be completed prior to Start-up/Shutdown and establish key interfaces necessary to achieve a smooth transition from commissioning to Start-up and operational readiness.
Leads the start-up organization through start-up phase until stable operation and makes day-to-day decisions to ensure project compliance to relevant standards and procedures.
Assist with management of manpower requirements according to Start-up/Shutdown activities and ensure technical competency of operations staff.
Advise project management, engineering, and construction to ensure Start-up/Brownfield requirements are incorporated into project activities and ensure plant operability and personnel safety.
Reviews and endorse key Start-up Green and Brownfield methods, procedures, and schedules on assigned projects and ensure Operations procedures development in line with project schedule.
Implement performance reviews for supervised personnel and ensure they receive appropriate technical assistance and on-the-job training for their professional development.
Coordinate close out of operational risks, ensure operations safety and provide solutions using initiatives, standard procedures and own acquired knowledge.
Participate and contribute within HAZOP, HAZID, cold eye review, start-up readiness audits and risk assessment studies. Report and participate in incident and near miss investigation process.
Lead permit to work (PTW) system for project work in Start-up green and Brownfield areas to ensure safe execution of work.
 
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or equivalent.
 
Knowledge and/or Experience
8 years’ experience in gas operations including 3 years in various project development activities, i.e. commissioning and start-up.
 
Technical and Business Skills
Understanding of operability assurance processes, business planning, business controls, project management, environmental regulations, and safety systems.
Planning, budget management and organizational skills.
Leadership and consensus building skills.
Computer literacy including MS Office applications.
Managed projects with high emphasis on commissioning and with specific experience of starting up new facilities.
Able to work and make decisions under highly stressful conditions.
