Offshore Start-Up Lead 2 
21/21 Rotation – Offshore Romania

We are seeking an experienced Offshore Start-Up Lead to support a major greenfield offshore gas development. Based offshore, this role is central to safe start-up, hot commissioning, well clean-up, and early production activities, acting as the key technical focal point for offshore operations.
You will lead and oversee commissioning and start-up execution across process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, ensuring safe transition from construction to stable production operations.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead offshore hot commissioning and start-up activities across all disciplines
  • Verify system readiness, handover dossiers, punch lists, and completion of critical pre-start-up requirements
  • Supervise safe execution of commissioning procedures, method statements, and operational checklists
  • Coordinate vendors, discipline engineers, and operations teams during system energisation and start-up
  • Support safe introduction of hydrocarbons and well clean-up operations
  • Monitor live plant performance, identify deviations, and coordinate corrective actions
  • Support performance testing of process systems, utilities, and key equipment
  • Assist in optimisation to achieve stable production and performance acceptance
  • Ensure compliance with HSSE, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
  • Provide daily offshore reporting on progress, risks, and mitigation actions
Key experience
  • 15+ years offshore oil and gas experience in commissioning, start-up, or operations
  • Strong background in greenfield project execution from construction through to early operations
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary offshore teams in high-risk environments
  • Hands-on delivery of hot commissioning for process and utility systems
  • Experience with hydrocarbon introduction, first oil/gas, and well clean-up operations
  • Proven track record in system handover, punch list closure, and readiness verification
  • Experience supporting or leading performance testing and plant optimisation
  • Strong understanding of control systems, safeguarding, and operational integrity
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues under live operating conditions
Requirments

Degree-qualified engineer in Process, Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation discipline. Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills required. Experience with process modelling tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS) advantageous.
