Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced SPS Topsides Control Engineer to support the development, integration, testing and commissioning of a Subsea Production Control System (SPCS) for a major deepwater offshore development.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the hardware and software development of the SPCS by the SPS Contractor, from design through to handover to the FPSO operations team. The role will involve close coordination with the SPS, FPSO, SURF, Drilling and other project disciplines, as well as internal technical stakeholders and contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee SPCS hardware and software development throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure engineering, testing, manufacturing, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities comply with project requirements, company specifications and international standards.
  • Review and validate contractor technical documentation, queries and derogation requests, identifying deviations and unacceptable design choices.
  • Support integration of SPCS topside and subsea software with PLC-based control systems, SCADA/HMI platforms, subsea sensors, actuators and power distribution systems.
  • Coordinate software behaviour with hydraulic, electrical and electro-hydraulic control philosophies.
  • Ensure alignment with the FPSO regarding ICSS interfaces.
  • Oversee SPCS software and hardware elements including MCS, OCWR, HMI, alarm management, remote access and cybersecurity.
  • Participate in engineering and safety reviews including HAZID and HAZOP.
  • Supervise qualification, testing, inspection, integration and installation activities.
  • Define and coordinate SPCS commissioning activities and handover to FPSO operations.
  • Monitor SPS Contractor performance against contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with SPS Control System Engineers and other project packages to ensure overall system consistency.
  • Prepare progress and technical reports and communicate project status to management.
  • Capture lessons learned from SPS execution activities.
HSE & Quality
The engineer will be expected to ensure compliance with H3SE&Q requirements across SPS execution activities, promote safe working practices, identify and report deviations, anomalies, incidents and near misses, and comply with applicable company HSE programmes.

Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in deepwater Subsea Production Control Systems (SPCS).
  • Strong experience across both project and execution phases.
  • Sound knowledge of control systems, subsea operations and subsea production systems.
  • Strong coding knowledge.
  • Good understanding of subsea production system company specifications and international standards.
  • Previous experience with TotalEnergies systems and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in an international, multicultural project environment.
  • English is mandatory.
Project Information
The position supports an ultra-deepwater development involving subsea production systems connected to an FPSO, with significant interfaces between SPS, Drilling, SURF and FPSO systems. The project operates in an international and multicultural environment, with multiple contractors and fabrication locations worldwide and a strong focus on H3SE&Q.
