The Role
We are seeking an experienced SPS Materials, Welding & NDE Engineer to support a major ultra-deepwater greenfield development in Namibia.
The role will cover all Materials, Welding and Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) activities for the Subsea Production System (SPS), from design and qualification through procurement, fabrication, construction, testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning.
You will act as the technical reference for the SPS Contractor, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, quality requirements and industry best practices.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced SPS Materials, Welding & NDE Engineer to support a major ultra-deepwater greenfield development in Namibia.
The role will cover all Materials, Welding and Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) activities for the Subsea Production System (SPS), from design and qualification through procurement, fabrication, construction, testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning.
You will act as the technical reference for the SPS Contractor, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, quality requirements and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate Materials, Welding & NDE activities across the SPS project lifecycle.
- Review and approve Contractor engineering, fabrication, construction, testing and qualification documentation.
- Define and manage Materials, Welding & NDE studies and qualification programmes.
- Establish technical requirements and interfaces between contracts and support CFT/bid evaluation activities.
- Supervise detailed design and qualification activities, including new or non-standard technologies.
- Coordinate welding and NDE expertise, including audits and technical vetting of equipment and service providers.
- Review technical queries, deviations and design proposals, ensuring potential risks are identified and addressed.
- Ensure compliance with applicable international codes, standards and project specifications.
- Provide technical guidance to the SPS Engineering team and Contractor.
- Support project reviews, risk assessments, QA/QC activities and H3SE requirements.
- Contribute to project documentation, procedures, specifications and lessons learned.
- Ensure safe working practices and high technical standards throughout project execution.
Strong experience with SPS materials and welding technologies, particularly:
- Low alloy steels such as F22 / 8630 / AISI 8630.
- Buttered connections.
- Weld overlay.
- Super Duplex Stainless Steel.
- Large-bore butt welding.
- Welding qualification and procedures.
- NDE/NDT methods and inspection requirements.
- Materials selection and qualification for subsea equipment.
- Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- 15+ years’ experience in large offshore Oil & Gas projects.
- Extensive experience with Subsea Production Systems (SPS).
- Strong background in Materials, Welding and NDE, particularly for subsea equipment.
- Experience covering engineering, fabrication, construction, testing and commissioning phases.
- Strong knowledge of relevant international codes and standards.
- Experience working with major SPS Contractors.
- Excellent written and verbal English.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively across disciplines and cultures in a complex international project environment.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
