Job Description

  • Responsible for the set-up of SPI master asset and project databases, development, maintenance, training and user support for the system.
  • Position description - (Roles & Accountabilities)
  • Technical Abilities
  • Possesses solid knowledge / experience (multiple years) of SPI Administration in the support of the system in an Operations and Maintenance as well as major projects (including support of a SPI user community) environment.
  • Exposure and experience with Oracle, .NET and Visual Basic, powerbuilder/infomaker would be most desirable.
  • Possesses strong Instrument / Electrical design experience with a good understanding of instrument naming conventions including wiring, loops and control system tags.
  • Solid knowledge and experience of using the system within Greenfield and Brownfield projects in Owner Operator and or EPC environments.
  • Solid knowledge of plant operations and maintenance in an owner operator environment.
  • Has the ability to perform database maintenance including optimizing indexes, create/execute/maintain DML SQL, import and merge SPI databases, updating statistics and resizing of SPI tables with solid knowledge and experience in producing back-up files and export files in Watcom, CSV and Excel format.
  • Competent in the SPI browser and capable of configuring / producing standard reports.
  • Possesses broad onshore design experience with quality control / verification and validation, and awareness of fabrication techniques.
  • Has knowledge of onshore oil and gas production facility design standards / specifications.
  • Has the ability to effectively interface with multiple communities, including project management, discipline engineers and designers, 3rd party contractors, vendors etc.
  • Has knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft products (such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint etc.).
  • Has complete understanding of FEED, detail design in Greenfield and Brownfield deliverables for Onshore projects.
  • Understands the scope of projects and has the capability to create SPI database structures that will enable the design and subsequent creation of deliverables from the SPI system. This includes interfacing with other clients database systems such as PDMS, AutoCAD, AVEVA Net portal, SPO etc.
  • Ensure Quality Management System requirements are met in line with ISO 9001-2008.
  • Executed projects.
  • Works closely with the EDS Supervisor for forecasting and scheduling of man-hours, quality control of users of the system and overall management of the system within the PDO environment internally and externally to our clients contractors.
  • Recommends, designs and implements work process improvements where appropriate within the confines of the clients environment.

  • Projects can sometimes be executed in remote locations in various countries. So maintaining a good relationship with the client is critical to the success of the project and sometimes requires visits to the site and/or client office.

  • Make sure all appropriate assurance reviews have been conducted for project handover and as building for contractors.

Personal Specification

  • Requires certification from a recognized technical institution in the field of Instrument / electrical design or IT DB management with a minimum of 5 years experience in applying fulltime SPI Administration skills to upstream oil and gas projects with experience in the Operations and Maintenance and major capital project environments.
  • Is proficient in SPI, 2D CAD systems with at least 5 years of industry discipline related CAD design experience (electrical and or instrumentation).
  • Engineering degree / diploma or equivalent time based application experience
  • Working and delivering in a multi-cultural environment
