Job Title: Spacer (Site)

Reports to: Production Manager (Site)

Location: Onshore & Offshore Operations


OVERVIEW OF ROLE

The Pipeline Group (PG) Spacers are part of the Production Line delivery team for all projects at Vigra Spoolbase they have been trained in all aspects of the equipment they will operate in a safe and productive manor within these task they are also designated as trainers due to their onsite experience. The individuals provide a significant amount of dedication and enthusiasm within their highly organised and methodical working practices, as well as helping to ensure that all projects objectives, targets, on safety, production and schedule are maintained

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

• Take responsibility for safety of self and others
• Manage the sequence at Weld Station 1:
• maintain safe, clean and ‘clutter-free’ working environment to assist in maximizing safety, quality and production
• visually check incoming pipe-end bevel
• instruct Line-Up Bed Operator and associated Helpers to ensure incoming pipe is fitted to stalk end at weld Station 1 to required tolerance
• check line-up accuracy by use of calibrate Hi/Lo gauge
• monitor ready system control panel for status of other firing-line stations – liaise with each station as required to check on progress and activate the audible siren and issue instruction for pipe to be moved
• control movement of pipe stalk, ensuring that variations in pipe size are accommodated
• stop the pipe movement on satisfactory positioning of incoming weld, turn-off audible siren and repeat cycle
• Interface with Production Manager on control of firing line ready system during weld repair operations.
• Supervise and communicate with team at weld station 1
• Brief new start and provide on-the-job instruction, guidance and training
• Carry out toolbox talks to subordinates


EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

• Significant pipe fitting experience required
• Previous spacing and/or Spoolbase/Offshore Laybarge experience Required
• Ability to line up pipes accurately with good hand/eye coordination
• Must possess leadership skills with the ability to direct and manage a team and maintain production targets
• Awareness / experience of delivery to standards
