Rotation: 4 weeks ON / 4 weeks OFF (24-hour rig coverage)
Reports To: Drilling Superintendent / Well Operations Manager

Job SummaryThe Senior Well Site Leader (WSL) serves as the primary operator representative on-site for an upcoming onshore field development project near Baku. Overseeing 24-hour drilling operations, the Senior WSL provides primary daytime supervisory coverage, directing rig crews, contractor operations, pad/skidding activities, and night supervisors across vertical, deviated, and horizontal development wells.
This role holds overall field accountability for process safety, barrier control, schedule compliance, and cost control during active drilling and rig move/skidding operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesField Operations & Pad Management

• Drilling Execution: Direct day-to-day onshore drilling operations for vertical, deviated, and horizontal wells in accordance with engineering specifications and regulatory standards.
• Pad & Skidding Operations: Oversee pad multi-slot drilling logistics, including rig skidding procedures, batch drilling operations, and conventional rig moves between multi-well pads.
• Contractor Integration: Lead third-party service providers (fluids, directional drilling, logging, cementing, casing crews) to minimize Non-Productive Time (NPT).
• Night Shift Supervision: Provide handover, daily operational direction, and alignment to the Night Well Site Leader/Night Supervisor.

HSE, Barrier Integrity & Compliance

• Safety Leadership: Champion a zero-incident HSE culture on-site, conducting daily safety meetings, pre-job hazard assessments, Toolbox Talks, and Stop Work Authority enforcement.
• Well Control: Primary responsibility for well control and barrier management, including BOP testing, trip monitoring, and pressure management protocols.
• Local Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with environmental regulations and safety protocols applicable to onshore operations in Azerbaijan.

Reporting & Logistics

• Daily Reporting: Generate accurate Daily Drilling Reports (DDR) detailing progress, downhole conditions, fluid parameters, costs, and time log breakdowns.
• Logistics Oversight: Coordinate supply deliveries, trucking, and equipment movements to the field site to maintain continuous operations.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Oil & Gas Engineering (or equivalent extensive field experience).
• Experience:
  
  • Minimum 10–12+ years in well site operations, with at least 5+ years as a Senior Well Site Leader / Day Supervisor.
  • Demonstrated onshore experience with deviated/horizontal wells and multi-well pad/skidding operations.
  • Onshore experience in Azerbaijan or Caspian region oilfield operations is highly preferred.
• Certifications:
  
  • Valid IWCF Level 4 or IADC WellSharp (Supervisor Level - Surface Stack) Well Control Certification (Mandatory).
  • Valid Medical Fitness Certificate for Onshore Operations.
• Languages: Technical proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in Azerbaijani or Russian is an advantage for daily field coordination.
