Senior Subsea Well Intervention Engineer

The Subsea Well Intervention Engineer is responsible for defining, engineering, contracting and delivering to Operations a Completion and Well Intervention design fitting the Project requirements and complying with Total referential and US regulations. This covers the well intervention strategy and equipment - in riser and open water (EDP/LRP) systems as well as the thru-tubing equipment and the Subsea Well Response equipment.


  • Actively participate to the D&Ws and Project HSE initiatives.
  • Ensure that all Engineering work covering the position scope are performed in compliance with a high regard to HSSE requirements.
  • Actively contribute to the Blow Out Contingency Plan in coordination with Drilling & Methods

Digital & Innovations

  • Propose, promote & implement Digital Solutions in line with the Group, Project and team vision, in coordination with the D&Ws Digital representative.
  • Seek new solutions to optimize the well's design efficiency for North Platte specific challenges, to optimize operations and to reduce technical risks, avoid failures and improve Safety.


  • Support the Wells Lead for all technical, commercial and contractual aspects of the Well Intervention package (EDP/LRP system, surface PCE including coil tubing wire and slick line, surface flow tree and controls, landing strings, rig interface and well control package).
  • Support the Wells Lead for all technical, commercial and contractual aspects of the "Simplified Landing String / Hybrid Spanner Joint" package
  • Support the Wells Lead for all technical, commercial and contractual aspects of the Well Response package. Actively contribute to the Blow Out Contingency Plan in coordination with Drilling & Methods
  • Ensure that the Well Intervention packages comply with North Platte requirements as well as BSEE Well-control Ruling.
  • Perform Gap analysis
  • Supervise the coordination of the qualification work performed with the Contractors and/or Company. Specific areas include material testing with project-specific materials and fluids specific to NP intervention equipment.
  • Participate in critical meetings at Project and package level
  • Prepare, review, and comment Project documentation relative to the intervention package.
  • Monitor Contractor schedule and cost milestones ensuring all are on track; informing Package Lead of potential variation orders
  • Participate in discussion with the BSEE to prepare the approval of the Interventions Conceptual Deepwater Operation Plan for North Platte
  • Support the 20K Team in assessing 20K readiness of well intervention equipment and defining qualification requirements.
  • Participate in discussion with the selected Contractor and I3P for the review of Supplier documents and review of subsequent I3P Reports
  • Provide effective leadership in Quality performance and compliance for the CWOR or SLS package.


  • Prepare RFI
  • Develop technical specifications and commercial scheme, evaluate offers in coordination with the Contract advisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years in Subsea Systems / Well Intervention activities (Engineering & Operations) including all variety of well intervention systems: EDP/LRP, SSTT, SLS/Spanner joints
  • 5 years in senior subsea intervention engineering role
  • 2 years in HPHT - 20K experience is a plus
  • 10 years in Deepwater / Subsea operations, Experience in Equipment Qualification & QAQC.
  • Subsea Landing string and Completion Workover Riser System Engineering and Design Experience, Xmas Tree System intervention experience as well as Xmas Tree Subsea service
  • Intervention Equipment design and qualification experience to API 17G (ballot and 3rd Edition)
  • Equipment design and qualification HPHT experience including understanding of ASME Div 2 and Div 3 methodology and API 17TR8
  • Good knowledge of Regulations and approval process for HPHT field development in GOM
  • Safe working practices on construction projects and offshore operation
  • Deep Water Developments (proficient level of knowledge and experience)
  • Excellent organizational ability and commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Strong communication and proficient presentation skills
  • Team worker capable of working autonomously
  • Bachelor's Degree minimum, Master in engineering preferred and hold an internationally recognized professional engineer status
