Senior Sediment Project Manager

Location: Mid-Atlantic / East Coast (Hybrid or Remote options available)

Position Overview
An established environmental consulting organization is seeking a Senior Sediment Project Manager to join a fast-paced and growing sediment practice. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex sediment management projects addressing navigation, port development, infrastructure improvements, and beneficial reuse of dredged material for ecosystem restoration.
The position can be based out of an office in the Mid-Atlantic region, with flexibility for a fully remote arrangement for the right candidate located anywhere along the Eastern Seaboard (New York to South Carolina).

Key Responsibilities
As a senior leader within the sediment team, you will manage projects from planning through execution while providing technical expertise and team leadership. Responsibilities include:
  • Lead sediment projects, managing staff, schedules, budgets, and subcontractors
  • Develop data quality objectives, field sampling plans, and QA/QC plans
  • Analyze and interpret chemical and biological sediment data
  • Prepare and review environmental permits and regulatory documentation
  • Evaluate dredged material disposal and beneficial reuse options
  • Assess remedial alternatives and ecosystem restoration potential
  • Prepare MPRSA Section 103 evaluations and other ecotoxicological assessments
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and project stakeholders
  • Develop cost estimates and support proposal efforts
  • Mentor and develop mid- and junior-level staff
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams
Projects are primarily located along the Atlantic seaboard and Great Lakes, with opportunities to support sediment initiatives nationwide.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience managing sediment-related projects
  • Demonstrated experience working with private and commercial clients
  • Strong technical foundation in sediment processes, chemistry, and remediation
  • Proven ability to lead teams and mentor technical staff
  • Track record of building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Familiarity with on-water construction and dredging operations strongly preferred
