Orion Group Life Sciences are looking for a Senior Project Manager Technology & Digital Manufacturing Innovation for our Multinational Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology client based in Breda. Initial 12-month contract, with a high possibility of extension. This is a hybrid position, where you are required to be onsite at least 3 times a week.

What will you do


Our client is seeking a CW Senior Project Manager, Technology and Digital Manufacturing Innovation to lead technology workstreams supporting manufacturing expansion, modernization, and operational readiness.
The role is responsible for delivering manufacturing technology solutions from concept and planning through design, implementation, qualification, deployment, and operational handover. Working in a matrix organization, the Senior Project Manager coordinates Engineering, Operations, Quality, Automation, Manufacturing Systems, IT/OT, Validation, vendors, and global technology teams.
Assignments may include manufacturing applications, automation, data platforms, digital manufacturing solutions, and technology innovation initiatives across new and existing manufacturing lines.

Main Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership:
    • Lead complex technology and digital manufacturing projects from initiation through operational handover.
    • Define scope, deliverables, timelines, budgets, governance, and resource requirements.
    • Develop and maintain integrated project plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, and decisions.
    • Manage project execution, priorities, scope changes, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Technology Delivery & Integration:
    • Lead the deployment and integration of manufacturing technologies, automation systems, digital solutions, data platforms, and supporting infrastructure.
    • Coordinate requirements, design reviews, testing, validation, qualification, and release activities.
    • Ensure alignment between business needs, technical solutions, site standards, and enterprise architecture.
    • Drive resolution of technical, operational, and cross-functional issues.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Management:
    • Coordinate external vendors, system integrators, equipment suppliers, and internal SMEs.
    • Facilitate workshops, design reviews, governance meetings, and decision-making sessions.
    • Provide clear status reporting, recommendations, escalation paths, and risk mitigation plans.
    • Translate complex technical topics into concise, decision-ready communications.
  • Governance & Operational Readiness:
    • Maintain project controls including scope, schedule, budget, risks, actions, and dependencies.
    • Ensure compliance with GMP, validation, cybersecurity, quality, and data integrity requirements.
    • Develop implementation, readiness, and handover plans.
    • Confirm ownership, support, documentation, training, and lifecycle management are established before go-live.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Automation, Manufacturing Systems, Information Technology, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of project management experience in manufacturing technology, automation, digital solutions, IT/OT, or capital projects.
  • Experience delivering projects through design, implementation, qualification, validation, and operational handover.
  • Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong project planning, stakeholder management, communication, risk management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience leading cross-functional and matrix teams.
  • Professional fluency in English.
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience with manufacturing systems, automation, SCADA, MES, IT/OT integration, digital manufacturing, data platforms, IIoT, Smart Vision, Digital Twin, PlantPulse, or related technologies.
  • Knowledge of validation, commissioning, change control, and system lifecycle management.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent project management certification.
