We have a current opportunity for a Senior Naval Architect on a permanent basis with a leading EPC company. The position will be based in Hampshire.

Role Overview
A Senior Naval Architect is required to join the Naval and Marine Operations Team based in Basingstoke, UK. The successful candidate will support global projects across all stages and provide technical leadership within the naval discipline.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
  • Lead concept selection and design of floating structures across all project phases (Basic, FEED, Detailed Design, Execution).
  • Design and oversee engineering activities and construction of floating structures (FPSO, FLNG, LNG carriers – both new-built and converted) in accordance with international standards and classification society requirements.
  • Prepare engineering documentation for EPCI Contract ITTs, such as Scope of Work, Functional Specifications, Design Philosophies, and Technical Briefs.
  • Review tender documentation, participate in clarification meetings, and conduct technical evaluations.
  • Perform structural analyses of hulls.
  • Conduct floater motion and hydrodynamic analyses, including RAOs and QTFs.
  • Carry out mooring and stability analyses.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Naval and Marine Operations department.
  • Stay current with floating structures and offshore installation design standards.
  • Attend technical and coordination meetings as required.
  • Apply relevant HSEQ policies throughout project execution.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (offshore structures, pipelines, process, mechanical, CAD, etc.) across project phases.
  • Serve as Technical Coordinator for all naval aspects, including contractor liaison, waiver requests, and ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards.
Experience
  • Proven experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly in the design of floating structures such as FPSOs, FLNGs, and LNG carriers.
  • Strong knowledge of hull structure design and hydrodynamic analysis.
  • Familiarity with mooring systems (spread, single point, turret) and their application in harsh environments (e.g. North Sea, cyclone-prone areas).
  • Experience in superstructure and outfitting design (e.g. living quarters) and general arrangement development.
  • Proficient in engineering software such as DNVGL SESAM suite, AutoCAD, MOSES, ORCAFLEX.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards (IACS, ISO, API, IMO) and offshore installation guidelines (DNVGL).
  • Experience with installation analyses for both fixed and floating platforms is an advantage.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Naval Architecture.
