Senior Mechanical Engineer – Static
Engineering & Construction | Denmark (Onshore) | 12-Month Contract

OverviewWe are supporting the recruitment of an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer – Static to join a major Engineering & Construction team supporting offshore oil and gas assets in Denmark.

This position will provide specialist mechanical engineering expertise across brownfield and modification projects, supporting delivery from concept development and detailed engineering through to commissioning and start-up. The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, operations teams, project management functions and external engineering contractors to ensure safe, efficient and technically robust solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide mechanical engineering support across Engineering & Construction and wider business functions.
  • Lead mechanical engineering activities for modification projects throughout all project phases.
  • Develop and mature Request for Modification (RFM) concepts into practical engineering solutions.
  • Manage conceptual and feasibility studies with external engineering contractors.
  • Review and assure quality of detailed engineering design packages.
  • Support project managers with technical decision-making and implementation strategies.
  • Participate in commissioning, start-up and operational readiness activities.
Technical Scope
  • Mechanical equipment and piping design and layout.
  • Pipe stress analysis and fatigue assessments.
  • Mechanical handling and constructability reviews.
  • Transient analysis including vibration and thermal effects.
  • Fitness for Service (FFS) assessments in accordance with API 579.
  • Corrosion, vibration and incident investigations.
  • Preparation of mechanical datasheets and technical specifications.
  • Equipment and vendor technical evaluations.
  • Procurement support as Technical Approver.
  • Preparation of derogation requests and engineering documentation.
Project & Stakeholder Activities
  • Participate in Design Reviews, HAZOP and HAZID sessions.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Provide construction, mechanical completion and commissioning support.
  • Coordinate interfaces across disciplines and project stakeholders.
  • Support EPC contract preparation and technical reviews.
  • Manage third-party verification and technical close-out activities.
  • Contribute to HSE investigations and Return of Experience (REX) reporting.
Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 8–10 years’ experience within offshore oil and gas.
  • Extensive experience in:
    • Static mechanical engineering
    • Piping and equipment design
    • Pipe stress and fatigue evaluations
    • NDT and welding processes
    • Materials and quality control
  • Strong understanding of process safety and Safety Critical Elements.
  • Working knowledge of international standards including API, ASME, ANSI, EN and ISO.
