Senior Mechanical Engineer – Static Equipment | Kampala, Uganda | Resident | 12 months | Q2 or Q3 2026

Role Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer – Static Equipment is responsible for providing expert technical support for all static mechanical equipment across a central processing facility and 29 well pads. The role ensures maintenance, inspection, and operational requirements are efficiently executed to maximize plant availability and minimize operational risk. The position reports to the Lead Mechanical Engineer and supports commissioning/start-up teams as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance to junior engineers and mechanical staff.
  • Develop, review, and maintain maintenance procedures and documentation.
  • Prepare scopes of work, coordinate vendors, and monitor contractor performance.
  • Oversee preventive, conditional, and corrective maintenance plans to optimize equipment availability.
  • Coordinate external repairs and provide technical advice for equipment failures.
  • Support spare parts selection, procurement, and resource planning.
  • Conduct technical surveys, generate reports, and identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Foster effective communication and productive relationships within the team and with contractors.
  • Apply innovative problem-solving to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in mechanical/static engineering within petroleum & gas operations or projects.
  • Strong knowledge of TEMA, ASME codes, and relevant company specifications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
Accountabilities:
  • Ensure highest safety standards and continuity of operations.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to site teams.
  • Promote cost-conscious decision-making while maintaining operational excellence.
  • Support commissioning and start-up activities throughout project lifecycle.
