Orion Group Sciences are looking for an Environmental Scientist for our client based in the Cork area. This is a Permanent Role.


Job Purpose
We are seeking Environmental Consultants to work within our growing Environmental team in our Cork office on exciting and varied environmental projects.

The ideal candidate will be looking to further his/her career and gain invaluable experience in a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy within a friendly working environment.

Key areas of experience desired will be in EIA, IEL, IPC, general environmental assessment, SEA, Planning, and renewable energy.

The successful candidate will be able to take on a project, manage it, deal with a client, engage with other in house specialists, engineers, etc. and drive a project along.

This is a permanent role and offers the successful candidate opportunities for career development.


Main Responsibilities of the role

  • Management of environmental projects
  • Management of junior team members
  • Preparation of screening, scoping and EIAR reports
  • Preparation of AA Screening Reports
  • Environmental due diligence assessments
  • Preparation of EPA licensing applications
  • Preparation of statutory consent documentation
  • Consultation with regulators and statutory bodies

Desired Experience and Background of the successful candidate

  • Degree in Environmental Science or equivalent
  • 5-10 years post qualification experience, most of which will have been gained within an environmental consultancy area
  • Membership of a professional body
  • Knowledge of and experience in contaminated land/geo-environmental assessment would be an advantage
  • Ability to work well in teams, work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent planning and organization skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Strong technical report writing skills
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Experience in some or all of the following areas:

-Data collection & interpretation

-Public and statutory consultation

-EIAR preparation

-Waste Management studies

-IE/IPC license applications

-Ecological assessment

-Risk assessment
