Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join a leading engineering project team supporting the delivery of a major industrial processing facility upgrade. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly capable engineer to play a key role in the design, development, and execution of complex electrical engineering activities across the full project lifecycle.
Working within a multi-disciplinary environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical engineering design solutions, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, project specifications, safety requirements, and schedule commitments.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute electrical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through detailed design and execution.
  • Develop and produce key electrical engineering deliverables, including:
    • Basis of Design documents
    • Technical specifications
    • Electrical load lists
    • Equipment datasheets
    • Engineering calculations
    • Single line diagrams
    • Equipment sizing studies
    • Material Take-Offs (MTOs)
    • Electrical drawings and design documentation
  • Perform electrical system studies using ETAP, including load flow, short circuit, motor starting and protection coordination studies.
  • Design and develop motor control, protection, and associated wiring schematics.
  • Provide technical input into equipment layouts, equipment selection, and project cost estimates.
  • Prepare technical requisitions and support procurement activities, including technical bid evaluations and vendor selection.
  • Review and approve vendor documentation, ensuring compliance with project requirements, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, project progress meetings, client meetings, and vendor review meetings.
  • Manage assigned electrical engineering activities to ensure delivery within agreed budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with project procedures, engineering standards, and change management processes.
  • Support construction, commissioning, and project execution teams by providing technical guidance and resolving engineering issues.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
 
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience working as a Senior Electrical Engineer within the energy, oil & gas, petrochemical, process, or industrial sectors.
  • Proven experience delivering FEED and/or detailed design engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of international electrical engineering standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrable experience carrying out electrical system studies using ETAP.
  • Experience producing and reviewing detailed electrical engineering documentation and deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of LV and MV electrical systems, motor control, protection systems, and power distribution.
  • Experience supporting procurement activities and conducting technical bid evaluations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary project teams.
 
Desirable Experience
  • Experience on brownfield modification and upgrade projects.
  • Previous involvement in large-scale industrial processing or refining facilities.
  • Chartered Engineer status or progress towards professional registration would be advantageous.
