Position: Senior Cost Control Engineer
Location: Gum Adasi, Baku, Azerbaijan
Schedule: 08:00 – 17:00 (Monday – Friday)
Transportation: Provided by the company via shuttle buses (to and from the office)
Key accountabilities:
• Develop and maintain project budgets, cost breakdown structures (CBS), and cost control procedures throughout Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPCIC phases.
• Monitor all project commitments, expenditures, and forecasts, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Prepare monthly cost reports, variance analyses, cash flow projections, and estimate-at-completion (EAC) updates.
• Work closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to validate cost estimates, track progress, and monitor trends.
• Support development of cost estimates, funding requests, and cost inputs for project execution plans.
• Participate in tender evaluations, vendor/contractor cost reviews, and verification of invoices against contractual terms.
• Maintain the project change log, quantify cost impacts of variations, and support change management and approval processes.
• Identify cost risks and opportunities, propose mitigation measures, and contribute to overall project risk analysis.
• Ensure proper cost coding, cost allocation, and alignment with finance and accounting requirements.
• Provide cost-related inputs for management presentations, project status updates, and internal decision-making processes.
• Promote disciplined cost control practices and support continuous improvement within the project team.
Requirements & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in cost control for Oil & Gas, EPC, or major capital projects.
• Strong understanding of cost engineering principles, cost estimation, and cost management processes.
• Experience working across multiple project phases, including Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPCIC.
• Strong analytical abilities with hands-on experience in variance analysis, forecasting, and cost modelling.
• Familiarity with project management systems, ERP platforms, and advanced Excel tools.
• High proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Additional training or certification in cost engineering, project controls, or financial analysis is an advantage.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to present financial data clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong teamwork, organizational skills, and ability to work in multicultural project environments.
