Senior Completion Engineer – Global Wells Team


Location: United Kingdom (Flexible / Hybrid)
Position Type: Full-time, 12 month contract (PAYE Inside IR35)

Our client, a leading global energy supermajor, is seeking an experienced Senior Completion Engineer to join their central technical wells organization. In this high-impact position, you will lead complex completion design projects with worldwide reach, championing engineering excellence and driving the global standardization agenda across diverse asset portfolios.This is an exceptional opportunity for a technical leader to build extensive global experience, collaborate with regional teams worldwide, and mentor the next generation of engineers. 

Key Responsibilities

Global Design Leadership: Lead upper and lower completion design projects for the Concept Select, Optimize, and Define stages of the Major Projects Common Process (MPCP).Standardization & Governance: Develop, review, and maintain field-wide Completions Basis of Design (BoD) documents to drive regional compliance and standardization.Technical Authority: Provide global subject matter expertise in sand control design, including cased and openhole gravel packs, continuous improvement initiatives, and operational support.Supplier & Execution Interface: Lead qualification and System Integration Testing (SITs) with tier-1 suppliers, collaborating with regional wells and well integrity teams to support flawless execution.Mentorship: Actively mentor and develop the technical capabilities of less experienced engineers within the global network. 

What We Are Looking For
Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Sand Control Expertise: Proven experience in the design, execution, and analysis of cased and/or openhole gravel packs (including operations and tool systems).
Engineering Software: High proficiency in industry-standard modeling software, specifically WellCat, PackPro, and Prosper (GAP and Reveal are highly advantageous).
Operations & Testing: Strong background in rig site operations, equipment assurance, fluid chemistry, and proppant testing.
Project Frameworks: Direct experience working within structured Major Projects Common Processes and a proven track record of developing functional Completions BoDs.

Soft Skills: Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional, regional teams and external vendors.
