Senior Completion Engineer
Location: Gum Adasi, Baku, Azerbaijan
Schedule: 08:00 – 17:00 (Monday – Friday)
Transportation: Provided by the company via shuttle buses (to and from the office)
About the role:
The role is responsible for managing all well completion engineering activities across the full well life cycle, ensuring that completions are safe, reliable, production-optimized, and fully aligned with field development objectives and well integrity standards. The position requires hands-on expertise in advanced completion technologies, including gravel pack systems, horizontal open-hole completions, inflow control devices (ICD/AICD), and intelligent completion systems, and close collaboration with subsurface, drilling, and operations teams to ensure successful well delivery.
Key accountabilities:
• Lead well completion engineering activities across the full well life cycle, from concept selection and design to installation, testing, and handover to operations.
• Develop and maintain the Basis of Well Completion Design (BoWCD) in alignment with reservoir strategy and production objectives.
• Design and oversee completion strings, tubing, packers, isolation devices, and barrier verification activities.
• Plan and execute sand control solutions, including gravel packs, standalone screens, and expandable screen systems.
• Lead horizontal open-hole and multi-zone completions, ensuring wellbore stability and long-term operability.
• Apply ICD, AICD, and intelligent completion technologies to optimize inflow control and recovery.
• Ensure compliance with well integrity, barrier management, and safety requirements.
• Lead and participate in risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA) and provide technical authority input.
• Prepare and review completion cost estimates, AFE inputs, and value engineering studies.
• Support contracting strategies, technical bid evaluations, and service company selection.
• Interface closely with subsurface, drilling, operations, production teams, and service providers.
• Ensure effective handover to operations with complete technical documentation.

Requirements & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in well completions engineering.
• Proven experience in gravel pack and sand control design.
• Proven experience in horizontal open-hole completions.
• Strong experience with ICD, AICD, and intelligent completion technologies.
• Experience in complex, high-risk completion operations.
• Offshore and/or Jack-Up operations experience preferred.
• Strong technical leadership and mentoring capability.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• High level of operational awareness and technical integrity.
• Strong safety-focused mindset and commitment to technical excellence.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
