POSITION TITLE: SDC Topside Industrial Services Engineer

This role is for the Shah Deniz Compression (SDC) project. The project will build a new electric Normally Unattended Installation (eNUI), controlled remotely. It is a compression platform with electrically driven compressors, to be in the SD area in Caspian. The role is based at the selected fabrication facility in Baku at Bayil Yard.

KEY ROLE:

SSDC Industrial Services Engineer will be responsible for the overall oversight of all coatings, scaffolding and insulation works across Topsides facilities. This will include ensuring seamless handovers between parties. Specific emphasis as follows;
 

• Demonstrate excellent personal HSSE leadership and HSE behaviours. Lead, by example, with regards to BP’s HSE policies.
• Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of industrial services (coating, painting, scaffolding and insulation) in accordance with project specification and safety standards.

BASIC SKILLS

• A high-level of communication and interpersonal skills.
• Significant experience of managing and co-ordinating construction execution at international fabrication facilities, including proven relationship-building and interface management skills.
• Experience with resolution of HSE issues related to on-site activities.
• Sound understanding of BP Construction Defined Practice and the latest international standards that assure integrity of build and construction quality. 

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum:  Diploma or bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, civil engineering or a related field.
Technical/vocational diploma in construction, coating technology, scaffolding supervision or insulation installation with strong field experience. Certification & Trade qualifications (higlhly recommended)

• Desirable Criteria:   Preference for NACE 2 or 3 Certification will be considered.

EXPERIENCE

• Experience with Industrial surface preparation and coating systems (e.g. epoxy, polyurethane, fireproofing).
• Understanding of corrosion protection and inspection standards and requirements (NASE, SSPC)
• Expertise in scaffold design, erection, inspection and dismantling for large-scale industrial works.
• Faliliarity with temporary access solution, including rope access and mobile platforms.
• Technical knowledge of hot and cold insulation systems (e.g. for piping, vessels, and tanks).
• Experience managing PAI services in tight windows under safety-critical conditions.
• Knowledge of QA/QC processes and relevant standards (ISO,ASTM,API).
• Experience working with multifunctional teams, particularly in remote or challenging environments.
• Significant experience of managing and co-ordinating construction execution at international fabrication facilities, including proven relationship-building and interface management skills.
• Strong understanding of safe work practices in scaffolding, working at height, confined space entry and coating application.
• Skilled in productivity planning, and progress reporting.
• Sound understanding of BP Construction Defined Practice and the latest international standards that assure integrity of build and construction quality. 

RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES

• During Execute phase, implement HSE standards through self-verification and oversight activities, ensuring investigation and follow-up where required.
• Incorporate and apply R1T principles into the industrial services application process, such as ensuring proper painting techniques.
• Ensures safe, compliant, reliable and efficient co-ordination of all scaffolding, coatings and insulation across the Topsides facilities.
• Ensures Contractor site work processes and procedures are fully implemented to underpin effective construction ramp-up and execution.
• Manage performance of scaffolding, coatings and insulation works, performed by Construction contractor, from start through to final completion and handover.
• Development and maintenance of scaffolding, coatings and insulation schedules in conjunction with Construction contractor. Drives value through effective co-ordination prioritization and planning (weekly), in alignment with Construction Practices.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for industrial services.

Manages Construction contractor to ensure thorough reporting and analysis of performance data provided. Anticipate and identify adverse trends/events throughout the scaffolding, coatings and insulation works with the relevant parties to agree performance / improvement steps to achieve safe and on-time execution.
 
Objectives: 

• Deliver Safe and Compliant Execution of PAI Services, ensuring all painting, scaffolding and insulation activities are executed in compliance with Project Quality and HSE requirements.
• Support Overall Project Progress and Milestones aligning industrial services with project construction schedules to avoid delays. Provide timely access, surface protection, and thermal control to allow mechanical, piping, electrical and other works to proceed.
• Manage Contractors and service providers by overseeing subcontractors delivery of scaffold, painiting and insulation activities.
