1 year initial contract with possibility of extension
Onsite in North Chicago, potential to work from home 1 day a week after training
Standard first shift lab hours Monday through Friday

Orion Group and our largest US client are teaming up again for an exciting contract opportunity in North Chicago for a Scientist III! Our client is in immediate need of candidates with experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or sterile product filling and an understanding of regulatory requirements for injectables.

Responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the process development of parenteral drug products; small molecules or biologics, preferably with experience in the PFS development including but not limited to defining and optimizing the filling parameters involved in the syringe filling process within pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
• Design and execute studies evaluating the stability (chemical & physical) of oxygen sensitive products, biologics against solution conditions (pH, ionic strength, temperature, light, moisture, etc.) and physical stresses arising from manufacturing process conditions (freeze thaw, mixing, filtration, filling, and lyophilization), to develop robust dosage forms.
• Interpret results and draw conclusions from own multistage experiments, note significant deviations, then suggest, design, and pursue relevant experiments.
• Demonstrated scientific writing skills and strong verbal communication skills.

Education and qualifications needed:

• Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent education, with typically 7 or more years’ experience or a master’s degree or equivalent education with 3 years’ experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or similar area. (PhD with 0+ years' experience acceptable).
• Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or sterile product filling.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements for injectable products.
• Experience in the PFS development including but not limited to defining and optimizing the filling parameters involved in the syringe filling process
