Scientist III – rAAV purification
Onsite in Worcester, MA
1 year contract
Hourly Pay Rate: $64-68/hr (individual medical benefits available at a cost)
 
The Genetic Medicine Group is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Scientist to join our AAV Technologies team and work collaboratively with our therapeutic area teams to advance company’s rAAV pipeline. The successful candidate will have experience in chromatographic protein purification. The candidate will work in a fast-paced environment to investigate, develop, and optimize methods and technologies through hands-on laboratory work and literature review.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Purification of rAAV to support discovery research
  • Develop and optimize production of high concentration and high quality AAV preps
  • Analyze experimental data, generate plots, and summarize results and conclusions.
  • Maintain a comprehensive Electronic Lab Notebook documenting experiments.
  • Independently design, execute, and interpret critical experiments to answer scientific questions
  • Understand the broad objectives of the project as well as their role in achieving those objectives, and modify experimental plan when required, to respond.
  • Innovate and implement new experimental protocols.
  • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency.
  • Set and meet experimental timelines. Impact projects mostly through lab activities.
  • Learn, understand, and master new experimental techniques, and act as a resource of mentor for others.
  • Routinely read and apply relevant scientific literature. Contribute to writing and conceptual framework of publications, presentations, and patents.
  • Effectively organize and present scientific plans and data.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials in a BSL2 environment.
 Qualifications:
  • BS or equivalent education with typically 5 or more years of experience, or MS or equivalent education with typically 5 or more years of experience, or PhD and no experience necessary
  • Protein purification experience with AKTA FPLC systems and chromatography methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn, understand, and master new experimental techniques.
  • Ability to multitask and work within timelines.
  • Demonstrated scientific writing skills and strong verbal communication skills.
 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Immuno Affinity Purification of multiple rAAV serotypes
  • Empty/Full Capsid Separation via ion exchange chromatography and ultracentrifugation
