Location: 100% onsite in Worcester, MA
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8 am to 5 pm

Orion Project Services and a market leading pharmaceutical company have teamed up for an exciting contract opportunity in biotherapeutics discovery. Join a Cell and Functional Biology team helping advance antibody programs through high throughput binding and functional assays.

In this hands-on role, you’ll maintain mammalian cell lines, run antibody binding, internalization, and reporter assays, analyze flow cytometry data, and help improve screening workflows and automation protocols. We’re looking for someone with biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience, strong cell culture skills, and a background in high throughput screening and functional cellular assays.

Job Overview:
The Cell and Functional Biology team within Biotherapeutics Discovery is seeking a contract Scientist I/II to perform high-throughput binding and functional assays to drive and enable data-driven decisions for project and pipeline advancement. As a member of the Cell and Functional Biology team, primary role will focus on antibody characterization. The role includes executing and optimizing antibody screening funnel, cell line maintenance, data analyses, and standardization of protocols as related to automation.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain immortalized mammalian target overexpressing and native target expressing cell lines primarily; experience with primary cells beneficial but not required.
• Coordinate sourcing of internal and commercial reagents for screening assays.
• Utilize established high-throughput assay screening workflows for antibody binding, internalization, and potency characterization using automated liquid-handling systems.
• Execute and enable binding, internalization, and reporter assay experiments
• Analyze data for antibody binding specificity, internalization ability and potency using flow binding and assays platforms.
• Develop and standardize screening workflows, assay protocols, and automation procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education with 5 years of relevant biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience, or master’s degree or equivalent education with two years of experience
• High-throughput screening experience and troubleshooting using Flow
• Strong understanding of screening workflows
• Perform cell culture under SOP GLP standards
• Prior experience and familiarity with protein-protein interaction, ELISA, target binding and functional cellular assays
• Excellent communication skills across broad audiences
• Ability to work effectively within internal, external and cross-functional teams
