PET Radiochemistry and Metabolite Analysis

Orion Project Services is teaming up with a market-leading pharmaceutical company to hire a Scientist II for a long-term, onsite opportunity supporting PET tracer research and production in North Chicago, Illinois.

Location: North Chicago, IL - 100% onsite
Contract: 2 years       
Pay: $48-$52 per hour
Benefits: Medical benefits available; employee contribution required

About the opportunity
Apply your hands-on chemistry expertise to PET tracer metabolite analysis, HPLC method setup and optimization, and routine radiotracer production. This role is well suited to a scientist who enjoys independent laboratory work and building reliable analytical systems.

What you'll do
  • Set up and optimize HPLC systems for metabolite analysis of PET tracers.
  • Operate HPLC systems daily and support consistent, high-quality analytical performance.
  • Conduct routine PET radiotracer production activities.
  • Independently establish HPLC methods and help ensure systems are robust, reliable, and properly maintained.
  • Document experimental procedures, results, and laboratory activities in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Follow all relevant laboratory safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
What we're looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related scientific discipline with 5+ years of experience; or a master's degree in chemistry or a related discipline with 3+ years of research experience.
  • Working knowledge of HPLC and LC/MS, supported by a strong foundation in organic chemistry.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain laboratory systems effectively.
Preferred experience
  • PET radiochemistry.
  • Setting up, optimizing, and maintaining HPLC systems.
  • Radiotracer production or analytical characterization of PET tracers.
