Orion Group is seeking a dedicated and organized Sample Coordinator to join our dynamic pharmaceutical client's team located in North Chicago IL! In this role, you will oversee the management and coordination of biological sample processing, ensuring timely and accurate handling of samples across departments. The ideal candidate will possess GLP experience, Strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in office management tools such as LIMS. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to efficient laboratory operations and support overall project success through meticulous sample tracking and administrative support.

1 year Initial Contract
1st shift Monday-Friday.
$20.00-$22.00/hr
Daily Tasks Include
  • Safely works with biological matrix (e.g. plasma, urine, blood, CSF, etc) in a biohazard level 2 laboratory.
  • Log shipments and receive samples for clinical and/or toxicology trials, in accordance with priority and in accordance with SOPs and regulations.
  • Document and maintain shipment, sample receipt and condition records per SOP.
  • Maintain detailed records of sample inventory using specialized laboratory software: LIMS. May also use Microsoft Office systems.
  • Maintain sample integrity and chain of custody and report any concerns or failures on time.
  • Support QA audits and ensures QA findings are addressed appropriately.
  • Monitor and maintain environmental unit (e.g. refrigerators, freezers) temperatures and address any concerns to ensure sample integrity
  • Work with -20°C and -80°C automated freezers and SQL database
  • Assist with data entry, filing, and proofreading of sample-related documentation to uphold accuracy and compliance standards
  • Handle customer support inquiries professionally, providing information about sample status or procedural questions
  • Organize and prioritize administrative tasks such as calendar management, filing systems, and office supply coordination to promote efficient workflow
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree of a relevant background or equivalent years of experience required.
  • 1+ years prior experience in GLP regulated environment
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements
  • Ability to understand and independently apply GLPs to everyday work
  • Ability to utilize (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Workspace, and data entry tools to perform tasks
  • Ability to use electronic laboratory notebook and Laboratory Information Management System (e.g. Watson LIMS, StarLIMS, etc)
  • Experience with customer service, phone etiquette, and time management enhances overall performance in this role
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail in handling sensitive or confidential information
