The SSHE Specialist not only support one or more safety, security, health, or environmental subject areas for a particular site or functional group within an affiliate but also provide a level of subject matter expertise in one or more areas. The SSHE Specialist influences the field organization without formal authority by demonstrating strong operations and/or maintenance skills, and interacting effectively with operations/manufacturing/pipeline/other field organizations. The SSHE Specialist also demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills while working with diverse groups. This job role will cover some but not all of the responsibilities listed below.

* Proactively communicate relevant SSHE alerts, information and themes to assist the workforce in a better understanding of relevant hazards and safe practices.

* Review the work permits submitted by Contractors on site to ensure compliance with procedures.

* Conduct frequent surveillance in the field to observe work activities and address unsafe behaviours and conditions when needed.

* Coordinate and ensure new project employees, contractors and visitors are given site specific SSHE orientations as required.

* Attend and actively participate in various SSHE meetings and communicate relevant information to project team members.

* Identify unsafe conditions and behaviours at site and utilize STOP WORK AUTHORITY as appropriate.

* Prepare and deliver safety training presentations to project team members and contractor workforce as needed.

* Ensure compliance with SSHE processes and procedures during pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities.

* Ensure close-out of all project SSHE documentation and prepare records retention in accordance with company guidelines.

* Participate in development of SSHE project Lessons Learned as appropriate.

* Provides guidance and direction during emergency situations in particular relating to fire response, casualty management and rescue and safe procedures for controlling and containing accidental releases, including unintended leaks, spills, discharges, and emissions.

* Training coordination:

o Delivers onsite refresher training to ERT personnel and mandatory emergency response and escape equipment and lifesaving equipment induction and refresher training for all personnel on-board FPSO.

o Coordinates all mandatory required training for ERT members. Work with Technical Training Centre and Asset OIMS Coordinator to ensure all personnel are fully trained as required for their ER role.

o Provides awareness and on-board refresher training for freefall lifeboats on FPSO.

o Management, inspection and calibration of all measurement equipment used for supporting operations - including portable gas detection equipment, radiation monitoring equipment etc.

* Conducts regular and planned emergency exercises and contributes to debriefing to define corrective actions

* Contributes to Loss Prevention Program and is a visible SHE Champion on-board the FPSO, setting positive example to all personnel, encouraging participation in SHE programs

* Assisting with incident investigation and analysis, where required.


* Bachelor's degree required

* Demonstrated work experience in safety-related positions (including some prior oil & gas experience)

* Knowledge of security processes and procedures

* Proficient in use of computers and programs such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Microsoft Office

* Read, write, and speak fluent English, as required to function effectively within a project team

* Prefer prior experience working in a multicultural / multilingual, emerging nation, environment

* Demonstrated ability to deliver excellence in project SSHE performance

* Demonstrated ability to develop successful internal and external working relationships with emphasis on interfacing in a team environment

* Ability to set priorities and work independently in performing contractor services with an appreciation for company processes and procedures
