About the Role We are looking for an experienced Safety Operations Engineer to join a major international LNG development project in Mozambique.
In this role, you will support the HSE Operations team, ensuring the project’s activities comply with the highest standards of Health, Safety, Security, Sustainability, and Environment (HSSE) performance.
This position is vital to embedding a proactive HSE culture and maintaining robust safety practices across multiple work sites and activities.

About the Role We are looking for an experienced Safety Operations Engineer to join a major international LNG development project in Mozambique.
In this role, you will support the HSE Operations team, ensuring the project’s activities comply with the highest standards of Health, Safety, Security, Sustainability, and Environment (HSSE) performance.
This position is vital to embedding a proactive HSE culture and maintaining robust safety practices across multiple work sites and activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of the project HSE policy and promote HSE culture and initiatives across all teams and sites
- Define HSE objectives, KPIs, dashboards and ensure timely execution of actions according to risk levels
- Anticipate risks, propose mitigation plans, and support incident and HiPO investigations
- Oversee safety studies, risk assessments, and close-out of related actions
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of the One Maestro HSE system
- Monitor and assess contractors’ HSE performance and compliance with project standards
- Contribute to development and follow-up of HSE bridging documents, audits, workshops, and forums
- Provide guidance on industrial hygiene programs in coordination with the medical department
- Support logistics teams in managing safety risks for road, marine, and air transport operations
- Disseminate safety learnings (REX) and participate in monthly HiPO/REX committees
- Engineering degree or equivalent, with at least 10 years’ experience in HSE roles on major oil & gas projects
- Solid knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and industry codes
- Hands-on experience with incident/crisis management, oil spill response, and IMS 300 organization
- Familiarity with TotalEnergies HSE systems is a strong advantage
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and coordination skills
- Fluent in English; Portuguese and/or French is an advantage
- Newly established entity managing a multi-billion-dollar LNG project in Mozambique
- Global project teams with multiple operational locations
- Role based in Maputo, supporting all project sites worldwide
