Orion is proud to be working with a national construction & infrastructure business at the forefront of delivering major projects as part of the ASTI Framework.
We are seeking applications Quantity Surveyors with commercial/industrial building package management experience to add to their growing commercial team delivering major civil engineering works, new substations, cable routes, and the enabling works required to future‑proof Scotland’s electricity grid.
About the Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a key part in managing all costs, income, subcontractor relationships and commercial activities within your project area. You’ll work closely with the wider project and commercial teams to ensure value for money, quality, governance and accuracy across all commercial responsibilities.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and capable QS looking to develop further within a major infrastructure programme while contributing to a high‑performing, collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial activities across your section of the ASTI project
- Measure, value and reconcile work in line with project and contractual requirements
- Prepare Bills of Quantities, schedules of rates and cost estimates
- Lead on subcontract procurement, enquiries and adjudication
- Maintain accurate cost and value records using Balfour Beatty’s digital systems
- Interpret drawings, specifications and works information
- Support and guide less experienced commercial team members (where applicable)
- Engage with internal teams, subcontractors and customers to maintain strong working relationships
- Uphold business governance standards (BMS & GMCEs)
Essential:
- BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent)
- CSCS – Academically or Professionally Qualified
- Chartered status (MRICS/MCInstCES/MCIOB) OR in final stages of completion
- Strong understanding of commercial management on civil engineering or construction projects
- Ability to work proactively, independently and collaboratively across teams
