The Quantity Surveyor (Civils) will provide services to and will be part of a major, commercial-scale construction project to build a long-duration energy storage facility in Hunterston, Scotland.
The Quantity Surveyor will report to the Commercial Manager and assist in the management of all commercial aspects of the Civils Works contract operating under NEC Option B form of contract. The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for performing remeasurement of works, assessing payment applications, assessing variations and managing change, risk and opportunity management, final account resolution, etc.
Scope of work
· Oversee and manage the commercial aspects of the Civils Works Package operating under the NEC 4 Option B form of Contract ensuring compliance with all contractual terms and conditions.
· Conduct regular site visits and proactively monitor contractor progress.
· Ensure that all variations, scope changes, and associated impacts on cost, time, and quality are appropriately documented, assessed and approved.
· Perform remeasurement and re-measurement of works, ensuring the timely capture of accurate quantities.
· Ensure all measurement activities are recorded accurately and contemporaneously, maintaining proper documentation for all changes to the project scope.
· Perform Audits of contractor costs in accordance with the SoCC and disallowed cost provisions.
· Assist in the identification, assessment, and management of commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
· Review and assess payment applications from contractors.
· Ensure accurate and timely certification of payments in accordance with the contract terms.
· Ensure that any disputes are resolved promptly, minimizing any project delays.
· Prepare and manage interim and final accounts, ensuring the timely resolution of all payments, claims, and variations.

To be successful in this role you should have:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a quantity surveying (Civil role or similar). Experience on energy or infrastructure projects, particularly in NEC4 contracts, is highly desirable.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying
- In-depth understanding and experience with NEC4 forms of contract and their application in large-scale projects.
- Strong ability to manage and control project budgets, payments, variations, and account settlements.
- Ability to negotiate effectively with Contractors and agree account positions.
