We have a current opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor on a permanent basis. The position will be based in East Kilbride with a specialist manufacturing and engineering company.

Role Overview
The Quantity Surveyor will manage and optimise project costs, ensure financial control, and provide accurate, timely commercial support. The role requires strong understanding of construction and engineering projects to support cost management, contracts, and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage accurate cost estimates and budgets for projects.
- Work closely with tendering, project management, and procurement teams to align budgets and financial strategies.
- Review and assess contracts to identify risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies.
- Administer contracts to ensure full compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain progress.
- Monitor project performance, costs, and schedules, and report on variances.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Prepare cost estimates, material take-offs, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
- Issue and evaluate Requests for Quotations (RFQs).
- Prepare tender documents and support commercial submissions.
- Coordinate with tender managers and fabricators to clarify project requirements.
- Maintain tender and bid documentation for decision-making.
- Finalise BOQs, Schedules of Rates, and other key documentation.
- Evaluate contractor tenders for compliance, cost, and capability.
- Recommend preferred contractors and address outstanding commercial issues.
- Identify and mitigate cost or schedule risks.
- Maintain clear communication among project stakeholders.
- Track contractor performance and progress.
- Track budgets and expenditures with the Project Manager to maintain cost control.
- Negotiate claims, manage payments, and finalise accounts in line with contracts.
- Provide regular cost reports and forecasts.
- Update and apply Standard Measurement Method (SMM) procedures.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and project progress.
- Support continuous improvement in financial management processes.
- HND or equivalent in Quantity Surveying (essential).
- Bachelor’s degree and/or membership of RICS, PMI, or similar institution (desirable).
- Minimum 1–2 years as a Quantity Surveyor in engineering projects.
- Experience with large-scale projects ($20M+ desirable).
- Strong knowledge of quantity surveying, cost estimation, and contract administration.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and reporting skills.
- Strong numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Confident using IT tools, particularly Google Workspace applications.
- Able to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Self-motivated and results-driven.
- Analytical, organised, and detail-oriented.
- Collaborative and adaptable across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Willing to travel and work internationally as required.
