Orion Group are delighted to once again be retained by a leading global manufacturer within the filtration and automotive components sector to support the appointment of a Quality Engineer for their on-site manufacturing operation in Camden, SC.

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional who thrives in a hands-on manufacturing environment and is passionate about driving continuous improvement, process capability, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting both automotive and non-automotive production operations, ensuring compliance with industry quality standards while helping to improve operational performance across the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain quality assurance and quality control processes across manufacturing operations
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations teams to ensure process capability meets product requirements
  • Support new product launches and engineering changes from a quality perspective
  • Develop and maintain control plans and quality documentation
  • Conduct warranty return analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving tools including 8D, A3, Fishbone, and 5-Why
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on defect prevention and waste reduction
  • Monitor and report key quality metrics and performance indicators
  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 quality standards
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and Poka-Yoke methodologies to improve manufacturing performance
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Quality Engineering or manufacturing quality role
  • Strong working knowledge of automotive core tools including:
    • APQP
    • FMEA
    • SPC
    • MSA
    • PPAP
    • Control Plans
  • Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies and root cause analysis
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and GD&T
  • Familiarity with process capability studies and Gage R&R
  • Experience working within IATF 16949 and/or ISO 9001 environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality/manufacturing systems such as Minitab or SAP
Preferred Experience
  • Automotive manufacturing background
  • Lead Auditor certification or willingness to obtain IATF 16949 Lead Auditor certification
  • Lean or Six Sigma training/certification
