Quality Control/Assurance Engineer (ROVs)

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Quality Control/Assurance Engineer based in Aberdeen. This role is staff and requires experience in the ROV sector. Based in Aberdeen there will be regular travel to other sites and clients. 
 
Key Responsibilities: 
Verifies mechanical, machining and weld materials based upon company drawings and test specifications.
Inspection of fabricated and machined components to engineering drawings both on and off site.
Support Engineering change control.
Perform mechanical inspections for components and completed assemblies, paint shop inspections, visual inspections, thickness measurements and weld shop inspections.
Assist with the company’s Quality vendor management.
Complete all necessary documentation according to the company’s requirements (including timesheets, ECN.. etc.)
Prepare certification packages as required.
Assist with the construction of certification packs for ROV records.
Deliver non-conformance register for each unit
Ensure good housekeeping.
Monitor corrective and preventative actions to ensure adequate and timely closure.
Make recommendations to management for process improvements.
Other duties as assigned by the HSQE manager.
 
Accountabilities: (Deliverables):
Perform dimensional reporting and code and standards interpretation.
Perform inspections.
Prepare material certification, calibrations, welding procedures, test reports, route card, etc.
Prepare certification packages as required.
 
Education / Qualifications (essential):
ISO or equivalent auditor
Secondary education level
 
Technical Competencies (essential):
ISO 9001, 45001 and ISO14001 experience
Good understanding of lean manufacturing, TQM and continuous improvement tools such as PDCA, DMAIC, six sigma, 5S.
Working awareness in manufacturing
Able to read technical drawings
Familiarity with typical project quality requirements (ITPs, QP, etc)
 
Key Skills (essential):
Knowledge of lean six sigma in manufacturing
Proficient in Microsoft applications - Access and Excel
Must be able to read and interpret drawings in line with basic quality control decisions
Good communication skills, learning ability and proactive personality.
Be able to work under pressure.
Team player and good communication skills
Full driving licence
Willingness to travel to England. 
 
Experience (essential):
Significant experience in quality control activities within a mechanical component environment
Previous experience of using measuring equipment. (vernier callipers, micrometres etc.)
