POSITION TITLE: Quality Civil Engineer – STEL
KEY ROLES:
• Monitor and verify all civil structural construction activities (e.g foundations, concrete, earthworks, drainage, roads, structural and cable supports) against approved drawings, specifications and approved ITP’s and BP standards.
• Ensure all construction works meets BP’s engineering practices and applicable international codes.
• Review and implement ITPs for civil and structural scopes.
• Ensure timely execution of hold points, witness points and mandatory inspections.
• Coordinate with contractors and third party inspectors to ensure proper documentation and approvals.
• Identify, report, and manage non-conformances (NCRs) and ensure corrective/preventive actions are taken and verified.
• Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement based on site learnings.
• Maintain accurate and traceable records of inspections, test results, material approvals, and quality dossiers.
• Work closely with HSE teams to integrate quality and safety- especially in critical civil structural operations like excavation, lifting or formworks.
• Participate in audits, toolbox talks, and site inspections to promote safe and R1T quality execution.
• Verify that all civil/structural materials (e.g concrete, rebar, aggregates, structural steel) comply with project specification and test requirements.
• Witness and review field/ lab tests (e.g slump test, compaction tests, cube strength) and ensure compliance with standards and project specifications.
• Provide technical support to site supervisors and contractors regarding civil structural quality requirements.
• Interface with engineering and construction lead to resolve technical deviations or field design adjustments.
• Support walkdowns, punch listing and mechanical completion of civil/structural packages.
• Ensure as-built drawings, redlines, and final QA documentation are compiled and approved.
POSITION REPORTS TO:
LINE MANAGER TITLE: Quality Team Leader
BASIC SKILLS:
• Strong computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Effective communication and reporting skills in English language.
• Strong skills in compiling, organizing and reviewing QA/QC documentations, such as inspection reports, test results, material approvals and final dossiers.
• Strong understanding of civil structural engineering principles related to construction.
• Familiarity with BP engineering standards and industrial codes like ACI, ASTM, BS, ISO and ASME.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, method statement, and material specifications.
• Familiarity with inspection checklist, RFI systems, and electronic punch list tools.
• Knowledge of BP’s HSE policies and how they integrate with quality control in construction.
• Ability to interpret and understand P&IDs, C&E, UFDs, PFDs, GA’s and other engineering drawings.
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (e.g Structural engineering, construction engineering)
• Desired QA/QC Certification from a recognised body (e.g. CSWIP. ISO 9001 or equivalent)
• Proven track record delivering required role or similar within the Oil & Gas Industry.
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in civil QA/QC roles on large scale industrial projects (preferably in oil&gas, petrochemicals, or energy sectors).
• Quality management experience should include, but not limited to, quality planning, quality oversight and verification activities, audit, definition, and oversight of inspection activities, continuous improvement.
• Solid knowledge of international codes and standards: ACI, ASTM, BS, ISO (for material and workmanship).
• Familiarity with project specifications and drawings review.
RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES:

• Liaise with contractors, and BP site teams to resolve quality issues and provide technical guidance.
