Contract - 6 months+

£50.00 per hour Ltd Co

Location - Keynsham, Bristol, BS31 2YH

Successful candidate must be British born (for ITAR regulations) and have active SC or DV level security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline with relevant experience or HNC/HND qualified with significant relevant experience.
  • Hold a Project Management Qualification such as Association for Project Management Project Management Qualification or PRINCE2.

Overall Department Direction

Our client is charged with delivery of Design, Integrated Logistic Support and Programme Support to the MoD UK `new build' and `in-service' submarine fleet across all classes of vessels.

From system feasibility analyses of engineering problems and solutions, to fully incorporated design changes Babcock support the entire design lifecycle. They are the key component ensuring that the nation's nuclear submarines are available and ensure the nuclear deterrent is always maintained.

Babcock is currently recruiting within the Dreadnought Project Management Office, Keynsham, and require a Project Planner for Babcock Marine working within ITAR regulations.

Main Purpose of Role

  • Develop & maintain schedule(s) (in P6 and/or Microsoft Project) for the Control Account Managers (CAMs); using data from the MoD requirement, ensuring the correct level of logic is incorporated to deliver the project outputs.
  • Liaise with the PMO Senior Planner for Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) updates, ensuring the interdependencies are clearly identified.
  • Maintain project baseline data and ensure that strict configuration and change control is employed.

  • Develop and update individual network programmes, deadline dates & plans to meet all Project requirements in conjunction with internal Project Managers & MoD stakeholders (if appropriate).
  • Carry out periodic update of programmes to identify deviations from baseline and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with creating baseline, forecasts, dashboards and system reports.
  • Assign resource as directed by PMO Management / CAMs and generate Resource Loading Profiles to confirm resource availability.
  • Resolve and report all system issues.
  • Comply with Programme scheduling practices and procedures To promote and represent Babcock Marine in a professional and responsible manner.
  • To provide advice on Project and Programme Management tools, techniques and processes to support the PMO and the wider Enterprise.
  • In conjunction with the wider PMO, prepare, maintain, analyse and provide Project Management Information to enable the monitoring and control of the contracts.
  • Support the delivery of Project improvement activities across the organisation.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proven experience as a project planner /scheduler.
  • Extensive knowledge of and adept in the use of Primavera P6 and MS Project planning tools to create Work, Product and Organisational Breakdown Structures and schedules..
  • Good working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel, Project and Word).
  • The post holder should be capable of working professionally, interacting across multiple stakeholders, providing a project management focus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external staff, at all levels within the Submarine Enterprise, including senior management.
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to think logically are essential attributes.
  • A working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning and Business Information Management System(s) would be an advantage.
